Reasons for Students' Reluctance to Enrol in Community Colleges from the Point of View of the Deans of Yemeni Community Colleges

The current research aims to identify the reasons why students are reluctant to enroll in community colleges. The research community consisted of deans of Yemeni public and private community colleges, and the data was collected through a questionnaire consisting of 21 items, prepared by the researcher to provide perceptions of the reasons for the reluctance to enroll in community colleges, including those related to the conditions of the faculties themselves, others related to students and society's outlook, in addition to the impact of the war on the education sector in general.. The questionnaire was distributed to the research sample represented by (27) deans.
The researcher reached a set of results, the most important of which are:
1- The results of the research showed that the general arithmetic mean of the responses of the members of the research sample about the reasons for the reluctance of students to enroll in community colleges from the point of view of the deans of Yemeni community colleges is 3.61, a value located at the level (high) according to the test of estimates specified in this research, which means that the research sample confirms the impact of these reasons on the phenomenon of students' reluctance to enroll in community colleges.
2- The results confirmed that there are statistically significant differences in the responses of the deans of public and private community colleges on the reasons for the reluctance of students to enroll in community colleges at a significance level of 0.05 in favor of the deans of public community colleges, which means that the deans of public community colleges are more aware of these reasons and emphasize their impact than the deans of private colleges.
Through the results reached, the researcher recommends a number of recommendations, the most important of which are:
- Activating the role of community colleges in meeting the needs of the labor market.
- Evaluating and developing community college programs.
- Educating secondary school students about the importance of community colleges to change the inferior view of this system of education.
