Abstract

The study aimed to find out the influence of using the Fryer model in modifying the misconceptions of some concepts of geometric shapes and models of the basic sixth class students in Al-Dhalea Governorate. To achieve the study objectives, the semi-experimental approach based on design (tribal-dimensional) was applied to a random sample of (83) basic sixth class students, the sample was distributed to two groups, one experimental, consisting of (42) students, using the model of Fryer, and the other one is the control, consisting of (41) students, who studied in the usual method, The Researchers used the misdiagnosis test (tribal-dimensional) to find out the misconceptions carried by the sample of the study, and to ensure the effect of the model on modifying the misconceptions, after the validity and stability of the test were confirmed, the researcher also prepared (Teacher's Guide and Student Handbook) according to the educational Model of Fryer, and the statistical treatment of the results of the experiment was carried out using the Social Science Statistical Package Program (SPSS), The study found that there were statistically significant differences at the level of (α ≤0.05) between the two arithmetic mean performance of the personnel of the experimental and control groups in the post-diagnostic test of misconceptions in favor of the experimental group that had been taught it using the Fryer model. in the light of the results, the Researchers recommended that the students have the need to pay attention to diagnosing the misconceptions that they carry in their knowledge structures about engineering concepts for the purpose of modifying them before starting to teach new engineering concepts, and interest in employing the educational model of Fryer in teaching engineering to basic education students because of its effectiveness in modifying the misconceptions of engineering concepts.
