Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree of sixth grade students' ability to perform the four arithmetic operations on regular fractions and decimal fractions. To achieve the study objectives, the researcher used the descriptive approach. The study tool consisted of two diagnostic tests, one on regular fractions and the other on decimal fractions. Each test consisted of (4) questions, one question for each operation. The study sample consisted of (240) male and female students from the sixth grade in Khormaksar Directorate, Aden Governorate. To know and analyze the results, the researcher used arithmetic averages, standard deviations, percentages, and the (t) test. The study reached a number of results, the most important of which is the weakness of the students' ability to perform the four arithmetic operations on regular fractions. The weakness of the students' ability to perform the four arithmetic operations on decimal fractions. It also concluded that the students' ability to perform operations on regular fractions is greater than their ability to perform decimal fractions. The study recommended paying attention to the topic of regular and decimal fractions and giving them more space in the educational content, assigning teachers with the competence and  SWAQ2QQ  teaching experience to teach the topics of fractions and operations on them, and providing teachers with training courses that enable them to present their scientific material in the best possible way.
