Abstract

This study aimed to define the Problems of Vocational & Technical  Education in the Vocational & Technical Institute in Lahj Governorate from the Views of Teachers, and tried to determine the effects of certain variables on determining the degree of these problems. Concerning the variables related to the teachers; they are gender, academic qualification, years of experience and governorate. 

For the purpose of this study, stratified randomized samples were

used for the teachers. The teachers sample consisted of (54) teachers forming (51 %) of the study population, which was consist of (106) of teachers. 

there was one instrument was developed to fulfil the aims of the study; The teachers` instrument consisted of (59) items distributed over (5) areas dealing with the existing problems. The areas are, (systems, laws and administration, equipment and potential, vocational growth, curricula, and financial funding) after confirming the authenticity and consistency of the study instrument, were distributed to the study sample, collected and analyzed statistically. The study's findings were as follows:

- Concerning the teachers` view the total degree of problems facing of vocational and technical teachers was great more specifically, it was (69.69%), the vocational growth of teachers sector came first among the existing problems, while the teachers` vocational development came last. The percentages of the responses to these problems were (74.58%) and (68.26%) in order.

The study also showed that:

- There was significant difference (α =0.05) concerning the problems according to the teachers` views due to gender for female in all of areas except,(systems, laws and administration).

On the basis of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:

- Activate technical and vocational education institutions, provide adequate requirements for each institution and develop new vocational programs  to meet the needs and requirements of the labor market and ensure that rapid technical and technological developments are kept pace

- Linking technical education and vocational training curriculum to the needs of the labor market and designing integrated, balanced, flexible and sophisticated curriculum that meet the needs of the labour market and the requirements of national sustainable development plans in accordance with global levels.
