Abstract

This study aims to identify the level of social anxiety and its relationship to some demographic variables among students at the College of Education, University of Aden. The researcher used a descriptive-analytical approach and administered a social anxiety scale consisting of (21) items to a sample of (246) male and female students, (85) of whom were male and (161) female, from various specializations and academic levels.

The results showed that the students' level of social anxiety was average according to the scale used. They also demonstrated a positive, statistically significant correlation between social anxiety and some demographic variables. No statistically significant differences were recorded at the (0.05) level attributable to gender or academic level.

This study recommends the need for psychological counselling programs to reduce social anxiety among students, develop social skills, and enhance self-confidence.
