Abstract

This study aimed to identify the extent to which principals of private schools in Aden Governorate practice leadership skills, specifically focusing on the following:

Determining the degree to which principals' practice various leadership skills, including: administrative, technical, human, and conceptual skills.

Identifying whether there are statistically significant differences between the mean responses of the study sample regarding the degree of practicing leadership skills by private school principals in Aden Governorate based on variables such as gender, academic qualification, years of experience, and district.

To achieve the research objectives, the researcher adopted the descriptive analytical method and used a questionnaire as the main tool for data collection.

The study population consisted of all teachers in private schools within Aden.

For data analysis, the researcher used the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), applying the following statistical techniques: arithmetic means, standard deviations, percentages of means, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient.

The overall level of leadership skills practiced, according to the questionnaire results, was moderate.

No statistically significant differences were found at the 0.05 level in the responses based on gender and no statistically significant differences were found based on academic qualification or district in all dimensions and the tool overall.

However, significant differences were found in the administrative skills (first dimension) and human skills (third dimension) based on years of experience:

In the administrative skills, the differences favored those with more than 10 years of experience.   In the human skills, the differences favored those with 5 to 10 years of experience.

Based on the research findings, the researcher proposed several recommendations, the most notable of which are:

Organizing workshops and awareness seminars for private school principals to increase their awareness of the importance of delegation, and to encourage them to grant more authority to competent assistants and distinguished teachers to handle daily administrative tasks.
