This study explores the impact of using Google Earth on academic achievement and retention of knowledge in geography among eighth-grade students in Lahj Governorate. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the research involved a sample of 37 students from Al-Majd Private School during the first semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. The students were divided intentionally into two groups: 24 male students in the experimental group and 13 female students in the control group. A geography achievement test specifically designed was conducted for eighth-grade students. After conducting the experiment and analyzing the results, the following key findings were obtained:
1. Statistically significant differences were found at the (α ≥ 0.05) level between the post-test scores of the experimental and control groups.
2. Significant differences were also observed at the (α ≥ 0.05) level between the experimental and control groups in the knowledge retention test.
3. Furthermore, the experimental group outperformed the control group in both the post-test and retention tests, indicating the lasting impact of using Google Earth.
Based on these findings, this study proposes the following recommendations:
1. Integrating Google Earth into geography instruction across schools in the Lahj Governorate.
2. Developing modern and innovative educational programs for various subjects and grades to promote interactive learning and encourage self-directed learning.
3. Organizing training workshops cantered on the use of Google Earth in active learning, highlighting its effective application in boosting student engagement and enhancing learning outcomes.
Based on the findings of the current study, the researcher suggested the following:
1. Conducting similar research that incorporates larger samples and additional schools within Lahj Governorate to facilitate the broader generalization of the study results.
Conducting similar studies targeting different educational levels and various subject areas to enhance the applicability of the findings
