Abstract

This study aimed to document the diversity of wild medicinal plants and their traditional uses in Sarar District (Yafa – Abyan Governorate, Yemen). The study was conducted from September 2023 to December 2024 and was based on field surveys and interviews with local traditional healers. Survey of 76 medicinal plant species were recorded, belonging to 57 genera and 32 families. Where identified that external uses accounted for 51. 72%, whereas internal uses represented 48. 28%. Leaves were the most frequently used plant part (44.6%). The findings highlight the need for scientific documentation, analysis of traditional uses, and integration of indigenous knowledge with modern research to promote the sustainable use of this natural resource.
