Abstract

The study aimed to know the role of Yemeni satellite channels in shaping the political awareness of the Yemeni public towards local issues and to know the extent to which the Yemeni public depends on these channels in obtaining information to satisfy their needs and build their political opinion towards local Yemeni issues. To achieve these goals, the researcher used the descriptive analytical method and the tool The questionnaire, which was applied to a simple random sample of the Yemeni public, consisting of (190) respondents of both sexes. The study reached the following most important results:1) The weak role of Yemeni satellite channels in shaping the political awareness of the Yemeni public, because most of them are in fact monopolized by the ruling elite and political parties, and thus they are media outlets that do not perform the positive role expected of them, and they also live in a crisis of control and promotion of the ruling authority.2) The Yemeni public’s lack of reliance on Yemeni satellite channels as a source of political information and political awareness.3) The weak influence of Yemeni satellite channels in shaping the political awareness of the Yemeni public regarding local Yemeni issues. 4) There are no statistical differences at the level of significance (0.05) between the answers of the sample members about the role of Yemeni satellite channels in shaping the political awareness of the Yemeni public due to demographic variables (gender, educational level).
