Abstract

The study aimed to know the reading and writing weakness of the general sector of learning in Yafi district schools situated at Lahij and Abyan governorates from the viewpoint of teachers, and to identify distinctions of statistical significance in the percentages of the study sample belonged to the variables of the study (qualification, experience, and gender). To achieve the aim of the study, the two researchers used the descriptive analytical method that fit the nature of the study and its goals and they designed a questionnaire consisting of five domains: teacher, family and student, difficulty of Arabic language and its branches and teaching methods domain. It has been distributed upon a sample of (110) of male and female teacher. After treating it based on (SPSS), the results showed that the reasons of reading and writing weakness of students of general learning sector at Yafea districts was high of arithmetic average of (3.94) of (78.95%). The results came arranged according to the domains in which the family domain recorded the 1st rank and the highest degree of arithmetic average of (4.41) in a percentage of (88, 13%), teacher domain recorded the 2nd rank of arithmetic average of (3.90) in a percentage of (78%) the student domain obtained the 3rd rank of arithmetic average of (3.85) in a percentage of (76,97%) the methods domain obtained the 4th rank of an average of (3.83) in a percentage of (76.66%) the difficulty of Arabic language domain obtained the 5th rank of an average of (3.75) in a percentage of (75%). The study showed that there is no distinction of statistical significance at the level of (0.05%) between averages of teacher's percentages belonged to variables of (gender, qualification, experience).
